Tiger IT Received Global Recognition Excelling in Fingerprint Algorithm Evaluation
Tiger IT Bangladesh Ltd. has achieved global recognition as the exhibitor of state-of-the-art FVC-based evaluation systems for fingerprint recognition algorithms. They have recently received this recognition from the Biometric Systems Laboratory of the University of Bologna, Italy.
Tiger-FIC received this recognition for delivering the most accurate results overall with patented fingerprint extraction and duplicate finding technology across all evaluations for fingerprint verification.
In a press release on Saturday, the organization informed that till this March, FVC – Ongoing has evaluated 8187 algorithms, among which Tiger-AFIS ranks first. The benchmark is established by FVC and its automated evaluation of biometric algorithms also evaluates developers' algorithms.
The company claims that Tiger IT's Automated Fingerprint Identification System – Tiger-AFIS Slapseg III is superior to others in accuracy, and their fingerprint algorithm regularly tops this list in the world. Tiger-AFIS alone has also been benchmarked as the world's leading functional technology by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Tiger IT's algorithm for fingerprint extraction and matching finding technology also placed second in NIST's ongoing Minutiae Interoperability Exchange (MINEX) test. In 2018, the company was ranked second in performance on the Iris Exchange (IREX) IX Part One, Iris Accreditation Assessment published by NIST. Tiger IT is one of the few companies in the world,
Nasir U Ahmed, Chief Scientist, Research & Development, Tiger IT Bangladesh Limited, said, “We have reshaped numerous industries with our world-renowned biometric solutions and through our relentless research and development, we are confident that we can revolutionize both. At Tiger IT, an unwavering commitment to hard work and perseverance has been the driving force behind our tremendous success, both in government and private organizations with their evolving identity management needs.
On the other hand, Shoaib Reza, Vice President of Biometric Systems and Databases, said, “I have worked closely with each customer on the implementation of the AFIS system. As a Bangladeshi, I am proud to be associated with this project and present it to the world as a tiger”.
What is the AFIS/ABIS system?
This cutting-edge biometric system uses state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to quickly and accurately detect unique human characteristics. The AFIS system is designed to detect fingerprints. On the other hand, the ABIS system is capable of detecting various biometric features such as facial recognition, iris scanning and voice identification. Tiger IT's AFIS system is running in reputed companies of different countries of the world including Bangladesh.
